Revise: Education and HealthPinyin was a separate reform: it used Latin letters to represent the sounds of Mandarin Chinese. It gave learners a way to work out pronunciation rather than relying entirely on memorising a character’s shape. Simplified characters made writing less complicated; Pinyin helped connect written learning with spoken sounds.
