Revise: Liberal reformsAs Chancellor of the Exchequer, David Lloyd George presented the People’s Budget in 1909 to help finance the Liberal reforms, including pensions. It also raised revenue for higher defence expenditure as the arms race with Germany gathered speed.
Keep the sequence clear: the People’s Budget came in 1909; two general elections followed in 1910; the Parliament Act followed in 1911.
