Revise: The Battle of Zama and the Numidian CavalryNumidia lay west of Carthage. Its rival kingdoms were not permanently united behind either Rome or Carthage. Their rulers pursued their own interests, and an alliance could offer help against a neighbouring rival.
Distinguish Masinissa, Rome’s ally, from Syphax, Carthage’s ally. Numidia was not a single united supporter of Rome throughout the war.
