Revise: Cyrus the Great's Background and AccessionThe Nabonidus Chronicle, a Babylonian record, supports the broad picture of Astyages losing power through conflict and military disloyalty. It records that Astyages marched against Cyrus, but his troops rebelled, captured him and handed him over. Cyrus then advanced on Ecbatana and carried away its wealth.
Support explanations with named evidence: the Nabonidus Chronicle records the rebellion of Astyages’ troops, whereas Xenophon’s Cyropaedia describes a peaceful transfer of power.
