Revise: Theatre, Stage and ScreenMystery plays acted out stories from the Bible. By the mid-fourteenth century, they were performed as a cycle: a sequence of plays covering the biblical story from the Creation to the Last Judgement, which could last several days. They were performed in the vernacular, the people’s own language, to bring the message of the Bible to ordinary people.
