Paper 2
Revise: Fabius Maximus and the Fabian StrategyMarcus Minucius became Master of the Horse, normally Fabius’ subordinate and deputy. Fabius took command of the combined Roman land forces and sent the consul Servilius back to Rome to organise measures against Carthaginian naval activity. His appointment therefore brought a more unified response to the emergency, although disagreements within his own command would soon undermine that unity.
- Revise: Polybius
The Roman dictator’s subordinate deputy, who could take command in the dictator’s absence.
