Revise: Agriculture and CollectivisationState-owned Machine Tractor Stations supplied machinery to collective farms in return for produce. These stations therefore served two purposes: they supported farming and helped the state obtain grain. They also provided a base for Communist Party supervision and policing in the countryside.
