Jahangirnama

Jahangir’s memoirs, the Jahangirnama, reveal his fascination with birds and animals. Unlike his great-grandfather Babur, who had also written about nature, Jahangir commissioned leading artists to paint some of the creatures and events he described. Painting could preserve the appearance of something rare that had briefly reached the court.
