Hooliganism

Hooliganism means violent and disorderly behaviour, including fighting, rioting and vandalism. The term was already used for gang activity in the nineteenth century, but became particularly associated with football supporters during the twentieth century. This was not an entirely new kind of wrongdoing: assault and damage to property were older offences occurring in a sporting setting.
