Fourth Five-Year Plan

Stalin’s Fourth Five-Year Plan, 1946–50, prioritised heavy industry, including coal, steel and machinery, alongside military production. These industries supplied the materials and equipment needed to rebuild the economy. However, concentrating resources on them left fewer resources for consumer goods and people’s immediate needs.
