Revise: Attempts at Settlement and the Rise of RadicalismEpiscopacy, or church government by bishops, was to be abolished. The churches in England and Ireland were to be reformed along Presbyterian lines, using elders and assemblies rather than bishops. Parliament and the Assembly of Divines, a gathering of religious advisers, would direct this reform.
