Revise: Government and JusticeAn entail directed land to a particular line of heirs. The statute restricted the ability of holders of these estates to sell or otherwise dispose of the land outside that arrangement. Its importance lay in protecting family inheritance and giving such settlements lasting legal force; it did not impose the same restriction on every piece of land.
