Revise: The Norman Conquest and the Feudal SystemOn a manor, an agricultural estate, peasants cultivated plots for their own households and worked the lord’s demesne, the land kept for his own use. In return, they received access to land, housing and protection. Many were tied to the lord and manor, although not all peasants had the same status or degree of freedom.
