Behaviour that rejects officially approved cultural expectations, such as Nazi rules about music, dress or youth activities, without necessarily seeking to overthrow the government.

Revise: OppositionThese groups mainly represented cultural non-conformity, not a coordinated attempt to overthrow Hitler. Their choices nevertheless showed that Nazi control of young people’s beliefs and identities was incomplete.
Distinguish political opposition from religious protest and cultural non-conformity: they did not all have the same aims.
