Definition

A written record of a court’s business, traditionally kept on a roll of parchment.

The account records payments for parchment for both account rolls and court rolls, purses for money, and locks for the earl’s chests. It also records the cost of carrying letters from the earl and his auditors to different places on the earl’s business. Auditors checked financial accounts.
