Revise: Opposition to the TsarIn 1915, Nicholas II went to army headquarters at Mogilev and took over as commander-in-chief from his uncle, Grand Duke Nicholas. By taking personal command, the tsar tied his own reputation more closely to the army’s performance. Military setbacks could now damage confidence in him directly, rather than only in his generals.
