Revise: The Jewish Community in England (1066–1290)From the mid-twelfth century, false stories circulated accusing Jews of murdering Christian children. These accusations, known as blood libels, encouraged antisemitism. Preparations for crusades also intensified hostility towards non-Christians: calls to fight for Christianity overseas could encourage attacks on Jewish neighbours at home.
