Paper 1
Revise: Documentary and Monetary Evidence: The Babylonian Diary and CoinageThe Babylonian Astronomical Diary records Alexander’s victory over Darius III at Gaugamela and his arrival in Babylon in 331 BC. The silver tetradrachms commissioned by Lysimachus and Ptolemy I present selected images of Alexander. Studying them together helps us distinguish evidence about events from evidence about how a ruler’s reputation was used.
