Revise: The ‘Boom’In 1913, Ford introduced a moving assembly line for the Model T, helping establish a manufacturing method that expanded during the 1920s.
Paper 1
A production system in which a product moves between workers, each performing a particular task.
In 1913, Ford introduced a moving assembly line at his Highland Park factory. Rather than workers moving around a car to complete many different jobs, the car moved past workers who each performed a particular task. This cut the time needed to build a car from over twelve hours to under two hours.
Explain the links in a causal chain: assembly lines reduced production costs, lower prices widened the market, and increased sales encouraged further production.
