Wilderness area

Many polar and tundra landscapes are wilderness areas: largely natural places with little disturbance from human development. Remoteness and harsh conditions have limited development across Antarctica and parts of Alaska, Greenland and Siberia. However, wilderness does not mean that people are absent.
