Revise: Climate Change Impacts on CoastsSaltwater ingress puts pressure on already scarce groundwater supplies, increasing dependence on rainwater and other water-supply systems. Making an island habitable therefore requires reliable drinking water as well as protection from waves. If repeated flooding, erosion and water shortages become too severe, people may be forced to leave their islands, with lasting consequences for their communities and culture.
