Revise: Global Resource Significance and InequalitiesA resource is something that people value or use. Food, water and energy are fundamental to human development because they support both people’s everyday lives and the economic activity that provides jobs and income.

Something people use to meet their needs, such as food, timber, water or fuel.
For an explanation, link the resource to a consequence: reliable energy powers machinery, allowing businesses to produce goods and earn income.
Distinguish supply from consumption: having natural resources does not necessarily mean people can access or afford them.
Describe global patterns as tendencies, not rules. Avoid claiming that everyone in HICs has plentiful resources or everyone in LICs lacks them.

People depend on this system for food, medicine, building materials and fuel. These resources support everyday survival, but they can also be produced or extracted on a much larger scale for sale. The important connection is that damaging an ecosystem can damage the resources on which people depend.
