Migrants may earn more abroad and send remittances home, helping families pay for schooling, healthcare or housing. Overseas earnings benefit Indian regions such as Kerala. However, households without a migrant abroad may receive no direct benefit, and dependence on overseas earnings leaves families exposed to changes in foreign employment.
Explain a chain of consequences: for example, overseas employment leads to remittances, which help families pay for education and healthcare.
