Revise: Natural and Human CausesMuch of the Sun's short-wave radiation passes through the atmosphere and is absorbed by the land and oceans, warming them. Some incoming sunlight is reflected back into space by clouds, ice and other bright surfaces.
Distinguish incoming short-wave solar radiation from outgoing long-wave infrared radiation. Greenhouse gases absorb and re-emit the outgoing radiation.
