North Atlantic Drift

The North Atlantic Drift, part of the warm Atlantic ocean-current system, also helps keep the surrounding ocean relatively warm. Air travelling across this water is moderated before reaching the UK. Its influence is especially important for the mild winters of western coastal areas.
