A country’s total income, including net income received from abroad, divided by its population. It is an average, not everyone’s actual income.

Gross national income divided by the population: the average annual income per person, usually expressed in US dollars.
Distinguish total GDP from GNI per capita, and a sector’s share of GDP from its share of employment.
