A wide, steep-sided, broadly flat-bottomed valley formed by glacial erosion; also called a U-shaped valley.
Revise: Glacial Processes and Landforms of ErosionAbrasion and plucking deepen and widen it, producing a glacial trough with steep sides and a broad, relatively flat floor. Its cross-section is U-shaped. Nant Ffrancon in Wales is an example.
