Revise: Planning Coastal Fieldwork: Enquiry Questions and Secondary DataFor this coastal investigation, the secondary sources must include a geology map and one other secondary source. The British Geological Survey’s BGS Geology Viewer is an example of a suitable geology-map resource. Other useful sources include historical photographs, aerial photographs, Ordnance Survey maps, weather records and earlier beach-profile data.
Paper 2
Distinguish what a source shows from what you infer. A geology map does not measure erosion rates, and an image showing a sea wall does not prove that it is successful.

For an investigation of coastal change and conflict, use a geology map and one other relevant secondary source. The two sources should have clear jobs. A geology map can establish the geological setting of your sites; satellite imagery can help you examine the spatial arrangement of coastal features and management.
