Paper 2
Collecting evidence directly in the place being investigated, for example by measuring beach gradients.
Check whether a question concerns your own enquiry or unfamiliar fieldwork material. Use the relevant evidence rather than a memorised answer.
Support judgements about your own enquiry with specific evidence and problems that actually occurred, rather than generic claims about fieldwork.
If you are given a fieldwork task or data, build your question around the features actually investigated, such as beach gradient and rock type.

Coastal fieldwork uses evidence collected at the coast to investigate geographical questions. A broad question such as ‘How do beaches vary?’ gives a starting point, but it does not yet identify what to measure or where to measure it. A useful enquiry question narrows the investigation to a particular place and a measurable difference or relationship.
