Energy security

Energy security concerns both availability and affordability: energy may be available but too expensive for households or businesses.

Using several resources also helps energy security. If one resource becomes unavailable or too expensive, other sources can help maintain supplies.

Energy security means having reliable, accessible and affordable energy. Developing domestic alternatives can reduce dependence on imported fuels. Using several sources also diversifies the energy mix, making a country less dependent on any single source or supplier.
