GCSE Geography · key term
A connected line of reasoning that uses evidence to support an answer or judgement about a question.
Used by AQA
Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3
Revise: Constructing Arguments and Drawing ConclusionsAn extended written argument is a connected line of reasoning that uses evidence to answer a question. ‘Extended’ does not simply mean long: each paragraph should develop your answer, and the paragraphs should work together towards a judgement.
Use accurate, relevant place-specific evidence when a question requires a studied example. Explain how each detail supports your argument.
A balanced argument need not give equal space or importance to every viewpoint: weigh their evidence.
