Revise: Weighing and MeasuringA measuring jug measures volume: the space a liquid occupies. Use its marked scale for quantities of water or milk given in millilitres (ml) or litres (l). A measuring spoon is useful for a small quantity that would be difficult to read accurately in a large jug.
Check the unit as well as the number: ounces (oz) measure weight, whereas fluid ounces (fl oz) measure volume.
