Sexual revolution

The film was released in 1989, after the sexual revolution of the 1960s and 1970s. Its frank discussion of sex reflects greater openness about sexuality. At Katz’s Delicatessen, Sally’s demonstration of a fake orgasm challenges Harry’s confidence in his understanding of women’s sexual experiences.
