Cut

A cut changes immediately from one shot to another. It can carry an action forward without drawing attention to the transition, move to a character's reaction or suddenly reveal a threat. Its effect depends on the images being joined: the same type of transition can make a conversation feel natural or make an unexpected arrival startling.
