Blockbuster

Released in summer 1982, E.T. became a major blockbuster. Its special effects make impossible events visible, while John Williams’s score strengthens the emotional movement from danger to wonder and farewell. The flying bicycle is therefore both spectacular entertainment and an expression of the friendship at the story’s centre.
