Paper 2
Paper 1
A character who does not appear on stage but whose experiences or actions influence the drama.
Revise: Eva SmithBecause Eva is an unseen character, the audience discovers her through other people’s accounts, the photograph and the Inspector’s references to her writing. She cannot answer their accusations herself. This dramatic arrangement reflects her limited social power: privileged people make decisions about her employment, relationships and access to help, then control how her story is told.
