A figure of speech in which a part represents a whole, or a whole represents a part.

Paper 2
Revise: The Destruction of Sennacherib‘The Assyrian’ in line 1 identifies the leader, but can also stand for the invading force as a whole. This representative use of one figure for a larger group is synecdoche. It makes the army appear to act as one threatening predator.
Paper 2
A figure of speech in which a part represents the whole, such as a person’s ‘brows’ representing the person experiencing worry.
