Revise: ContextPride and Prejudice was published in 1813, during the official Regency of 1811–1820. George III was too ill to exercise royal powers, so his son governed as Prince Regent. However, Austen first drafted the novel in the 1790s: its social world belongs to the wider late-Georgian period, not simply to the years of the official Regency.
