Criminal anthropology

A related contemporary theory was criminal anthropology. In L’uomo delinquente (1876), the Italian physician Cesare Lombroso claimed that some people were born criminals whose physical features revealed a return to a supposedly earlier stage of human development. These were claims about criminality, not established facts.
