Black War

The comparison recalls the Black War, fought between British colonists and Aboriginal Tasmanians from the mid-1820s to 1832. Expanding settlement dispossessed Aboriginal people and intensified resistance and violence. The subsequent forced removal of survivors to offshore settlements, together with disease, devastated the population.
