Revise: Electronic Switching, Amplification and TimingA thyristor, also called a silicon controlled rectifier or SCR, is a semiconductor switch with three connections: anode, cathode and gate. A trigger at the gate starts conduction between the anode and cathode when the circuit is suitably supplied.
Removing a thyristor’s gate signal does not normally switch it off: explain how the main current is interrupted.
