Definition

A way of writing a number as $a\times10^n$ , where $1\leq a<10$ and is an integer.

Paper 1

Stock material comes in standard forms and sizes: for example, boards and sheets, lengths of bar or tube, and rolls of fabric. The cutting plan must suit the available stock, not just the finished product. Before cutting, identify the number and finished size of each component, include the material needed for joining, and allow for material that the cutting process will remove.
