Revise: Energy storage systemsTheir long shelf life means that they can be stored unused for years with relatively little loss of stored energy. This is useful for spare batteries or a torch kept for occasional use. They also avoid the need to arrange charging, and usually have a lower initial purchase cost than rechargeable alternatives.
