Link each component to its job: a switch opens or closes a path, a transistor allows a small signal to control a larger current, and a resistor limits current.
For resistor bands, identify the reading direction, significant digits, multiplier and tolerance separately. A tolerance is a percentage of the nominal resistance, not a fixed number of ohms.
