Revise: Force magnitude and directionAn idler gear placed between them reverses the rotation again, making the final driven gear turn in the same direction as the driver. In a simple gear train, the idler's size does not change the overall ratio: that depends on the first driver and final driven gear. Compound gear trains are different and are not needed here.
