Revise: Cost FactorsRecycling instead uses scrap steel from sources such as old products and manufacturing offcuts. It is mainly melted and refined in an electric arc furnace (EAF), which uses electricity to melt the metal. This avoids much of the work needed to extract iron from ore and reduces the need for iron ore and coal.
