A pattern of association between two quantities: positive when they tend to increase together, or negative when one tends to decrease as the other increases.

Revise: Drawing and Interpreting GraphsThese points show positive correlation. As thickness increases, the maximum supported load generally increases. The word 'generally' matters: the three-millimetre sample supports slightly less load than the two-millimetre sample, so the relationship is not exact.
Describe a relationship in context: name the quantities and explain what the trend means for the design, rather than only writing 'positive correlation'.
Support a design recommendation with values from the graph, and avoid claiming that a correlation proves cause and effect.
