Revise: Textile Finishes: Appearance, Protection and FunctionA breathable barrier membrane can be laminated, or bonded, to an outer or inner shell fabric. The shell is the fabric layer, while the membrane provides the barrier. Together they can make a textile waterproof yet breathable: liquid water is kept out while water vapour from perspiration can escape.
