A disorder in which body cells no longer respond properly to insulin, so blood glucose levels can remain too high.

Revise: Blood Glucose ControlIn Type 2 diabetes, insulin is produced, but body cells no longer respond properly to it. This reduced response is called insulin resistance. Glucose can therefore remain high even when insulin is present.

A disorder in which body cells respond less effectively to insulin, and the pancreas may not produce enough insulin to maintain normal blood glucose concentration.
A blood glucose graph alone does not reliably distinguish Type 1 from Type 2 diabetes; use any information provided about insulin production or treatment.
A positive correlation indicates increased risk, not that every person with a high body mass develops type 2 diabetes.

In type 2 diabetes, body cells respond less effectively to insulin. This is called insulin resistance. The pancreas may still produce insulin, but its effects are reduced; it may also fail to produce enough insulin to keep blood glucose within its normal range.
