Revise: Uses of GlucoseThe amino acids are then joined together in protein synthesis. Proteins are needed for growth and repair, and some act as enzymes that help reactions take place in cells. This connects photosynthesis with mineral uptake: the plant needs both the glucose it makes and nitrate ions from its surroundings to produce proteins.
